• Course overview

Eligibility: This course is open to South Gloucestershire Early Years Language Champion settings only

This Language Champion Network session will focus on supporting emotional regulation through communication, using a range of practical and accessible techniques. The session will look at how communication can help children recognise, express, and manage their emotions.

Participants will explore tools such as emotion visuals, feelings scales, and simple communication and core boards that support emotional understanding and self regulation. The sessions will also introduce strategies like modelling emotional language, using visual prompts to support calming and co-regulation, and keeping communication approaches consistent across settings.

Through discussions and practical activities, attendees will reflect on how these techniques can be used in everyday practice to reduce anxiety, support emotional wellbeing, and encourage positive behaviour.
